Why do you use carrageenan?Updated a year ago

We understand your concern about products containing carrageenan. It's great to see that you are conscious of the ingredients in the products you choose to purchase and want the best for your skin.

We haven't come across any studies linking the topical use of carrageenan to any health issues. However, we are aware of the concerns surrounding the safety of ingesting carrageenan. When degraded and used as a filler in food products, this ingredient could be harmful to the immune system and cause inflammation of the intestines.

Fortunately, when used topically, carrageenan has a large molecule size that cannot penetrate the skin, making it impossible to be absorbed into the bloodstream or reach your intestinal tract. We use it as an emulsifier in some of our products to create a more even and rich texture. Our carrageenan is high-quality and undegraded.

Our carrageenan extract is made by washing dried red seaweed, followed by a hot alkaline extraction to disintegrate the plant material. It's primarily used as an emulsifier and thickening agent in formulas. Our carrageenan is all-natural and certified organic.

Here are the products that contain carrageenan:

  • Radiant Skin Silk Body Lotion
  • Anti-Aging Serum
  • Anti-Aging Eye Cream
  • Citrus Stem Cell Serum
  • Illuminating Pearl Mask
  • Phytonutrient Cleanser
  • Probiotic Serum with Tremella
  • Wild Fruit Serum
  • Fruit Ceramide Eye Serum
  • Activated CBD Serum

We have an article about carrageenan on our blog that explains why we use it and its effects in skincare. You can read it here: http://www.annmariegianni.com/carrageenan-in-skin-care/
