What is comfrey and why is it used in skincare products?Updated 3 months ago

Comfrey is an herb known for its anti-inflammatory properties, traditionally used to help reduce puffiness and support skin health.

Is comfrey safe to use in skincare products?

Yes, comfrey contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids which can be carcinogenic when consumed orally. However, our skincare products are formulated for topical use only. When applied to intact skin (not wounded or open), the amount of alkaloids absorbed into the bloodstream is minimal and not considered carcinogenic. The liver processes these alkaloids if they enter the bloodstream, but topical application does not significantly contribute to this process.

How do you ensure the safety of comfrey in your products?

We prioritize safety and compliance with regulatory standards in formulating our products. Comfrey is used responsibly and in accordance with industry guidelines to ensure it contributes positively to our skincare formulations.

Is comfrey sourced responsibly in your products?

Yes, we carefully select and source all ingredients, including comfrey, to meet our standards of quality and sustainability.
